Therapy in Edinburgh

Find mental health support in Edinburgh, including local referral routes, charity services and costs, with clear links to help you start.

What is here

Thrive Welcome Teams help adults in Edinburgh find mental health support. You can attend your local drop-in or ask your GP for a referral. Your GP surgery determines which team covers you.

The teams see people aged 18 or over. They can help with coping skills and access to counselling or other services.

Health in Mind runs peer support groups for adults with anxiety, low mood or depression. Groups meet online and in person. Both options require an Edinburgh postcode.

What it costs

Health in Mind's peer groups are free. Check the current dates before attending, as places are limited.

Private therapists set their own fees. Ask about the session cost and any reduced fee options before booking.

How ViaCara helps in Edinburgh

An online session is a video or phone call at a time you choose. You do not need to travel, and you can change practitioner if the fit is wrong.

The UK Crisis Resources page lists people you can talk to at any hour.

Thanks for your interest. We're not taking on new clients at the moment.
