# Anxious about getting married

Anxious about your wedding or your marriage? Space to explore your questions, talk about what matters and find support before the day.

You may want to get married and still have questions about the day or the relationship. There is room to talk about both.

This page offers routes to support. It cannot decide whether marriage is right for you.

## Is this cold feet or a real *doubt*?

We cannot tell from a page what your doubts mean. Feeling calmer in one situation does not settle a decision about your relationship.

You might want to talk about the commitment, money, family expectations or something happening between you and your partner. A counsellor offers a place to discuss those questions without this page deciding the answer.

## Why am I anxious when nothing is *wrong*?

You do not need to explain the feeling before you can talk about it. You can begin with what has been on your mind, even if you cannot name a reason.

Perhaps you want to discuss a change in your home, family or plans. Perhaps you are unsure where to start.

## What if it is the *wedding* I dread, not the marriage?

Your questions about the wedding day may differ from your questions about married life. Guests, costs and plans may be part of what you want to discuss.

Imagining a different ceremony does not give a final answer about the relationship. You can leave that question open while you talk.

## My partner does not *understand* why I feel this way

You can ask a counsellor about talking on your own or with your partner. You can explain what you hope to discuss before you book.

If talking with your partner does not feel safe, you can seek support on your own. You do not have to begin with a joint conversation.

## Why do I feel *guilty* for not being happier?

You do not have to describe this time as happy if that is not how it feels. A counselling conversation can start with your own words.

There may be expectations you want to talk about, including what you feel able to say to family or friends.

## I have been married *before* and this feels different

You can talk about your earlier marriage without deciding that this one will follow the same path. You choose how much of that history to share.

A first enquiry can name the questions you want to discuss. It does not need to tell the whole story.

## Why has my family made this *harder*?

There may be family questions you want to discuss away from the wedding plans. These might concern the guest list, costs or expectations about the day.

You can ask a counsellor about a space to discuss your part in those conversations.

## Is it too *late* to talk to someone before the day?

You can contact a counsellor before the wedding and ask about their availability. If the date matters to you, include it in your enquiry.

A professional can explain how they work, their fees and whether they offer individual or couples sessions. You can then decide whether to book.

Thanks for your interest. We're not taking on new clients at the moment.

## Want to talk it through *before* the day?

We ask what matters to you, then find professionals who fit.

Leave your email and we'll let you know as soon as we're ready for you.

This conversation helps us find you the right support.

What you share helps us understand what you're looking for and find someone who fits. Your email keeps you updated on what's happening next and isn't shared with anyone we introduce you to.
