[Sheffield Talking Therapies](https://www.sheffieldtalkingtherapies.nhs.uk/) offers NHS help with stress, anxiety and low mood. Adults aged 18 or over with a Sheffield GP can refer themselves online or by phone.

[Sheffield Mind](https://www.sheffieldmind.co.uk/one-to-one-counselling) offers six weeks of counselling with student therapists. You must be aged 18 or over, live in Sheffield and have a Sheffield GP. You cannot apply if you used a Sheffield Mind therapy service within the past six months.

Places are limited. The charity takes new requests at set times each month and may close the form when full. Check its website before you apply.

## What it *costs*

NHS Sheffield Talking Therapies is free. Sheffield Mind general counselling is also free. You need to meet its access rules and wait for a place.

Private therapists set their own fees. Ask about reduced rates and cancellation charges before you book.
